The OZEV EV chargepoint grant and how to claim it
What is the OZEV EV chargepoint grant?
The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) Electric Vehicle (EV) chargepoint grant allows people who live in rental accommodation or own a flat to reduce the cost of buying and installing a home charger by up to £350.
There are different types of grants that you may be eligible for when buying and installing an EV Home Charger. To be eligible for any grant, you have to:
- Own and live in a flat or rent and live in any residential property
- Have private off-street parking for your vehicle
- Own, lease or have ordered an eligible vehicle
- Not have already claimed a chargepoint grant for your vehicle
You can no longer claim for 2 chargepoints if you own a second electric vehicle (EV).
Find out more information about the eligibility of having a chargepoint grant here on the Government website, including vehicle and property requirements. As well as what might affect you from be ineligible from getting the chargepoint grant.
How do I claim the grant?
Please note – You can only claim the grant before the installation of your home charger.

For most people living in flats your charging unit will be connected to a communal supply and meter, in which case we request that you ask your property manager about the idea of having our EV home charger installed for your property.
Please note, there are grants available for your landlord or property manager, who may be able to claim an additional £500 per parking space (up to 60 parking spaces) towards the cost of installing infrastructure for you and your neighbours. Find out more information here on the Government website. This grant will reduce the impact on your Service Charge budget and may help to convince your neighbours that electric vehicle infrastructure is a priority for your property.
